The empty schools buildings have become a headache for residents who have complained about overgrown grass and weeds, damaged structures, vermin, trespassers, trash, and arsons at the properties. The purchase date was delayed until this summer. The Bristol Township School Board and a county court approved McGrath’s plan to purchase the school sites in 2019. Last year, the developer said he had a traffic study done and determined that a 55-plus community would have less traffic burden than a school or single-family housing development. He has said he is committed to working with the township. McGrath has led several meetings with residents surrounding the closed schools on his plans.
