The boss fights have a mechanic where you can reflect (some) attacks back at the boss which makes them more of a proactive encounter than a reactive one which is great. To me at least, it feels like you're supposed to lose repeatedly until you have enough currency to play the game with enough base stats to play the game as intended. You don't try to make a solid strategy out of the possibilities you were given, instead you lose and gain currency which you spend after a failed run to increase your troop's stats for future attempts. I want my roguelike games to make me retry something with different strategies until I understand how to beat them but this game goes for the "meta progression" approach and basically does not have strategy to it. The rogue side of the game is very weak in my opinion. The PVZ side of the game is more or less fine, it's not great but it's fine. On paper I think I can comfortably say that a PVZ with roguelike elements would be amazing but this just isn't it. ![]() I wanted to love this game, I really did.
